Our AI Policy in a Nutshell

Promises & Predictions

Artificial Intelligence is nothing new. Research into this scientific field started back in the 1950s. But it wasn’t until some 70 years later, when Large Language Models (LLMs) burst onto the scene, that the general public was seduced with promises of a bright new future of easy access to quick and cheap writing tools. In a short few years, so the predictions went, businesses and customers would soon be able to generate high-quality translations and excellent copy. These promises and predictions have, however, not borne out.

AI does not read and understand a text like a human does. Therefore, it is incapable of translating like a trained and qualified translator can. Similarly, AI does not have any emotions. By definition then it cannot understand the human experience to write evocative copy.

Unacceptable Shortcomings

While AI is expanding the scope of automating mundane tasks, the output is still wanting. It’s okay for basic writing when there’s not a lot riding on the outcome. But AI does not read and understand a text like a human does. Therefore, it is incapable of translating like a trained and qualified translator can. Similarly, AI does not have any emotions. By definition then it cannot understand the human experience to write evocative copy. And in a high-stakes venture like job and/or immigration applications, these shortcomings are simply unacceptable.

In a Nutshell

When used appropriately, AI tools are a great way – with caveats – to amplify your own effort. But to avoid their shortcomings, you need to employ a proper translator to produce certified translations that meet IRCC’s requirements for your immigration application. And for your job search, you need to hire an employment strategist who can improve your chances of getting onto the shortlist and prepare you to perform to the best of your ability in a job interview for the job that caught your eye.
